Warranty Policy

General Product Warranty

Matelec offers a standard 12-month general warranty applicable to all products that can be purchased on www.lifetimelighting.co.za.

Items exempt from the Matelec 12-month Warranty:

  • Electronic equipment or circuitry susceptible to damage from electrical surges.
  • Products that were utilised outside of their intended purpose
  • Damage due to vandalism, severe weather or accidents

Ten-year Corrosion Warranty

Matelec offers a 10-year paint and corrosion replace-or-recondition warranty on all Lifetime Lighting Products (light fittings).

Examples of corrosion:

  • Premature rusting or degradation of fasteners
  • Bubbling/peeling of paint

The warranty period runs from the date of purchase. In the event of a claim, proof of purchase must be supplied by the original purchaser. The warranty entitles the bearer to a replacement or reconditioning of the same product originally purchased.

Should an identical product not be available, Matelec reserves the right to replace it with a similar product or request the unit be returned for re-conditioning.  Reconditioned items will not re-institute the ten-year warranty; the warranty will continue from the date of original purchase.

Matelec is not obligated to facilitate any repairs or returns after the said warranty period has expired.

Repairs

Matelec will always refer to the original equipment manufacturer, supplier, or service agent for an assessment within the warranty period. Should the original equipment manufacturer or designated service agent conclude that a product has been used outside of its intended use or environment, and a Warranty repair or replacement has been denied, Matelec will act on its own discretion and will therefore not be obligated to repair or replace the product. Matelec is not obligated to provide a loan item for the duration of the assessment or repair.

Transportation Costs

In the event of a warranty claim, Matelec will cover the cost of the collection and re-delivery of the replacement/reconditioned product. However, should it be found on assessment that the product is faulty due to abuse or misuse outside of its intended use, it will result in no replacement or refund; the return transport cost both from customer-to-supplier, and from supplier-to-customer will be levied to the customer and payable by the customer.
